Haworth in the 1840s was a smelly, crowded and unsanitary place, and the contaminated water supply led to frequent outbreaks of waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid. Dr Emma Storr, Honorary Associate Professor in Primary Care at the University of Leeds, and leader of a module
on The Ill Child in History, leads an evening examining conditions in the region, and reveals all you’ve ever wanted to know about life – and death – in Haworth.
