Learn how to create your own graphic memoir!
Louise Crosby: Creative Writing Workshop
West Lane Baptist Centre, Haworth, 10am-1pm
With the recent growth in popularity of graphic novels and memoirs this workshop provides a simple introduction to working with words and pictures together. Participants will create their own short graphic memoir inspired by a Brontë poem. This may form the basis for a future graphic short story, visual diary or even the start of your own graphic novel!
Suitable for writers and artists of all abilities. If you're a writer rather than an artist, you may find it useful to bring a few photos or images of a few of your favourite objects / places / people, to base your work around.
Louise Crosby is a printmaker, illustrator and who creates her own graphic short stories. She illustrates the poems of Clare Shaw (Bloodaxe books) in a collaboration called Seeing Poetry: Poetry in Words and Comics. The comics have been exhibited at several arts and literary festivals and are presently being adapted to book format for future publication. Louise runs Laydeez do Comics - Leeds, a bi-monthly graphic novel forum with a focus on comic works based on life narrative, the drama of the domestic and the everyday. She also runs comics workshops for adults and children.
