A free Tuesday talk
We have little information about Patrick’s early education; but we do know he seized his opportunities for learning, loved it for its own sake and also saw it as his one opportunity to get on in the world. The passionate conviction he had of its importance drove him to create a school for the local children of Haworth, but also to send his four older daughters away to the miserable experience that was Cowan Bridge. This talk examines Patrick’s ideas about education in the context of the day, and the impact they had on his own children’s future.
Free with admission to the Museum.
