This is a past event.

A partnership event with the RSPB and Leeds Museums and Galleries

RSPB Development Officer Alasdair McKee and Programme Officer Sassy Holmes lead a fascinating talk about the importance of birds to the Brontë family.

The Brontës spent their lives exploring the Yorkshire moors. The birds in and around Haworth were fascianting to the family, and were the inspiration for lots of their creative work.

Join us for this revealing talk where we'll discuss birds and nature in the Brontës’ work and their annotations in Thomas Bewick’s History of British Birds. Alasdair from the RSPB will address how wildlife and nature had changed since the Brontës, and the challenges we face today in conservation.

We'll also be joined by Natural Science curators from Leeds Museum and Galleries, who will be bringing along taxidermy examples of the birds we're discussing.

Tickets: £5/£3 concessions
Date: Saturday 22 April, 2pm - 3pm
