Discussing her year as Writer in Residence
We are delighted to welcome our 2022/23 Writer in Residence Nicky Peacock to the Bronte Lounge. Join us on Thursday 30 March at 7:30pm to discuss Nicky's year working with the Parsonage.
"I go to sleep thinking about Charlotte and wake up thinking about Emily. I play favourites. I have crushes and change my mind all the time. I try to imagine them wandering about my house, bickering, my surrogate sisters, their big dresses getting in the way of the telly.
For twelve months I have lived with the Brontës. I’ve read their diaries and shopping lists. I’ve laughed at their dark in-jokes and doodles in the margins of books. I’ve written adverts to find them lovers, and sat alone in their house, sensing clues like some poetic detective."
In this live event, Nicky will share stories, writings, and anecdotes from her year in residency.
Nicky Peacock is a multidisciplinary artist. Previous incarnations include drummer in a Riot Grrrl band, copywriter, fashion editorial artist, published photographer, and curator specialising in participatory and confessional arts.Nicky is a storyteller, part hermit, part suburban explorer. Her work is often playful, revealing undertones of disquiet and the macabre. She is ever curious about the secret worlds of ordinary folk, reimagining the real into enigmatic and extraordinary tableaux, using imagery and the written word.
The event will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday 30 March, and will take place via zoom. It is a live event and will not be recorded.
Tickets for this event cost £5. This live event will be hosted by Programme Officer Sassy Holmes. Sassy Holmes will lead the questions, but interaction via the chat box is positively encouraged.
