An evening with the director of new cinematic release EMILY
We are delighted to welcome actress and director Frances O’Connor to the Brontë Lounge. Join us on Thursday 13 October at 7:30pm to discuss Frances’ directorial debut EMILY; an adaptation of Emily Brontë’s life.
EMILY tells the imagined story of Emily Brontë. Starring Emma Mackey ('Sex Education', 'Death on the Nile') as rebel and misfit Emily, the film explores this Brontë sister finding her voice whilst writing ‘Wuthering Heights’, and the relationships that inspired her on the way.
In this live event, the night before EMILY is released in the UK and Ireland, Frances will share what she uncovered about Emily Brontë during the making of her directorial debut. We will delve into her portrayal of the infamous Brontë sister and what new contemporary audiences will discover when they head to the cinema this autumn.
Frances O’Connor is a prolific actress, having starred in ‘Mansfield Park’, ‘AI: Artificial Intelligence’, ‘The Importance of being Earnest’, and much more. EMILY is Frances’ directorial debut from her own screenplay. EMILY will be released in UK & Irish cinemas on Friday 14 October 2022.
The event will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday 13 October, and will take place via zoom. It is a live event and will not be recorded.
Tickets for this event cost £6. This live event will be hosted by Helen Meller. Helen Meller will lead the questions, but interaction via the chat box is positively encouraged.
The Brontë Society is a registered charity. Tickets sales from this event helps us maintain the museum and our Bronte programme. Thank you very much for your support.
