Take Courage - Anne Brontë and the Art of Life

Welcome to The Brontë Lounge: our new digital space where the Brontës, their works and legacy are brought to life through conversations and readings.

We have invited a number of contemporary Brontë admirers to join us in the Brontë Lounge to talk to us about their own relationship with the sisters and why the Brontës continue to be relevant today.

Our first guest in a series of special fundraising Brontë Lounge events is Samantha Ellis. Samantha grew up in the Iraqi Jewish community in London and is an author, playwright and journalist.  Her first book, How To Be A Heroine, was published in 2014.  In 2017, she released Take Courage: Anne Brontë and the Art of Life, a surprising and personal journey into the life and work of Anne Brontë. Samantha's plays include Cling To Me Like Ivy and How To Date A Feminist and she has written for The Guardian and the Times Literary Supplement.

Samantha will read from Take Courage and chat about all things Anne with our host Helen Meller, who will also take questions from you, our audience.  Please join them in the Brontë Lounge for what promises to be an entertaining and enlightening evening!
Event starts 1930 UK time (GMT+1). All tickets £5.

This event will take place via zoom.  It is a live event and will not be recorded.

Full joining instructions will be issued once you have made your booking.

The Brontë Society is a registered charity and this event is a fundraiser for the Brontë Parsonage Museum.  All proceeds from this event will help us to maintain the museum at this challenging time.

Thank you very much for your support.  We look forward to welcoming you to the Brontë Lounge soon!
