Job Description

Are you motivated, creative and ready for a new challenge? We’re looking for a dynamic individual to lead on marketing and development at the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth, West Yorkshire.

Haworth Parsonage is the former home of the Brontë family and the place where the world-famous novels ‘Jane Eyre’, ‘Wuthering Heights’ and ‘The Tenant of Wildfell Hall’ were written. As the Brontë Parsonage Museum, it houses the world’s largest collection of Brontë artefacts and welcomes over 70,000 visitors of all ages and backgrounds from all over the world each year. We are proud to be an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and one of the top must-see destinations in Yorkshire.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the postholder will be responsible for driving visitor numbers and maximising revenue from ticket sales, retail, donations, membership subscriptions and fundraising initiatives. The Marketing & Development Officer will work closely with the newly-created role of Digital Engagement Officer to develop new and existing audiences by increasing reach, deepening engagement and instilling loyalty.

The Brontë Society has recently made significant investment in a new website, plus CRM, ticketing and ecommerce systems.  The successful candidate will be tasked with ensuring that these are used to their full potential, and so experience of Spektrix, Shopify or similar platforms will be an advantage.

It’s an exciting time to join the Brontë Society as we celebrate Bradford as UK City of Culture 2025 and welcome people from all over the world to Haworth.  The successful candidate will benefit from the opportunity to work in a vibrant and iconic heritage setting; a flexible working pattern; free membership of the Brontë Society and the Museums Association; 20% discount in the museum shop and a monthly wellbeing hour.
