Inspired by the hopes, reflections and ambitions that Emily and Anne Brontë recorded in their diary papers, artist Layla Khoo was commissioned by the Museum in 2021 to create a new installation.
Layla’s Contemplating Hope was the result, where she created a ceramic vessel for each month of the year, filled with reflections and hopes of visitors at the time. Four years on, we’re smashing open a vessel each month to reveal what’s inside…
This talk with Layla will share the vessels’ contents so far and discuss the papers of Emily and Anne as we reflect on the past and look to the future. The in-person talk will also include the smashing of our October vessel!
Please note, this ticket is only refundable if the event is cancelled, in which case we’ll contact you. We reserve the right to make changes to our programme. All information is correct at the time of booking.
