Contemplating Hope: Four years on
Artist Layla Khoo was commissioned by the Brontë Parsonage Museum in 2021 to create Contemplating Hope, an installation inspired by the hopes, reflections and ambitions that Emily and Anne Brontë recorded in their diary papers. Layla created a ceramic vessel for each month of the year for the Museum, which visitors filled with their reflections and hopes.
Four years on, we’ll be smashing open a vessel every month, sharing its contents, and looking back to four years ago – while considering what the future might bring.
This event will include Layla sharing her project, a discussion of Anne and Emily Brontë’s diary pages, and reflections on the last four years. It will conclude with the smashing of the first vessel and a chance to discover its contents.
Please note, this ticket is only refundable if the event is cancelled, in which case we’ll contact you. We reserve the right to make changes to our programme. All information is correct at the time of booking.
