Balls
30 July - 3 December 2018
Lily Cole was the Brontë Parsonage Museum's creative partner for 2018. Her project connected the Parsonage with the Foundling Museum, where she is a fellow, by exploring Heathcliff's origins as a foundling alongside the experiences of real foundlings of 1840s London.
Lily's research culminated in a moving short film entitled Balls which portrayed the stark experiences of a young mother faced with the process of finding care for her new born child. The film was installed at the Brontë Parsonage Museum alongside objects from the Foundling Museum, and was also screened simultaneously at the Foundling Museum.
